“So you have tried and failed. Try again , Fail better. “ — (someone said this.. Ahmmm.. let me do a quick Google search) Ah ! — Samuel Beckett

Chances are that you have tried and failed and you are thinking, why is it not working? I have put everything into this?

Well sometimes you give your 100% and you still fail. You must have noticed that sometimes even when you are not giving your 100% you still succeed. How and why?

Well this is Reality. We will come back to it later. Let us first study so as to why sometimes you are not even that much invested into something and you still succeed. How is that happening ? Why is that happening?

So the thing is when you decide on a goal. What you don’t do is that You are not approaching it with the right mindset.

What is a right mindset anyways?

When approaching to do something, go with a mindset so as to how can you make it happen?

What it does is that in this mind space you are willing to try one more thing , maybe another way will work, one more time. You see the uncertainty still exists here too. But what you don’t do here is you don’t obsess on, so as to why it didn’t work.

Instead you take feedback from the previous failure and try a new way of doing the same thing or something different altogether. You are doing/trying everything but, stopping to try anything, anymore. The more this stopping phase lasts the more you lose momentum. And then things get harder. So in this mindset when you see something is working you gain momentum and you build on top of that. And eventually you make your goal.

But where’s the passion ? Where’s the motivation ? Where’s the inspiration ?

Well we live in Reality. It works differently than what you think it should. Well there’s also a luck factor involved in it.

What is luck anyways?

To define luck, you can say that it’s like probability.

Let’s take an example: Your goal is to get heads in a coin toss. So the probability of getting a ‘heads’ is 50/50. You try the first time and you might get heads. And so you achieved your goal, you say you are lucky. Sometimes you might not get heads even on after many tries. What’s happening?

So there’s no passion involved here right. And still you succeeded. Passion/motivation is great as a starter but it’s not sustainable. It does its job well to get you started. But it fades out after some time. And when you are too much involved into something and it doesn’t work out, the loss impacts us like 10x more. And it does takes a lot more to get back up and try one more thing one more time.

It’s a numbers game, but to be willing to give that many tries to turn the odds in your favor, you have to begin with the right mindset or shift to a right mindset.

TLDR: Remember to ask yourself — How can we/I make it happen ?

(It’s a small piece of advice for the future me, so as when I forget my own advice I will look back to it and analyze if I am doing things with the right mindset.)

Hey, stranger reading this. I would say that take this advice with a pinch of salt, because most advice from others doesn’t work for us the same way as it did for them. And so If this little thing resonates with you, try applying it. And do tell me when you do, this advice will mean nothing with no action. Also if it was of any value to you, please consider giving claps, it will give me some feedback so as you like it. And if you feel to add something more to this. Please reach out to me. I would love to fine tune it.
